Message from the Dean

Spring is traditionally a time for new beginnings, and there is a lot to look forward to at the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship. We invite you to return to Kent State to attend a number of upcoming events – further details and links to register are available below.

Dean Deborah Spake

A great deal of progress is being made on Crawford Hall, the new home for the college on front campus. In recent weeks, a large crane has been stationed on the site, moving beams into place to outline the frame of the building. You can view an updated building animation here, as well as view live images of the building here.

On April 12, Mario J. Gabelli, chairman and CEO of GAMCO Investors, Inc. and LICT Corp., as well as Executive Chairman of Associated Capital Group, Inc., will be the featured ASPIRE Entrepreneurial Workshop speaker.

On April 18, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Michael D. Solomon Entrepreneurship Speaker Series as Kent State alumnus Michael D. Solomon presents “50 Years of Technology History and Why I am Still Having so Much Fun Being an Entrepreneur.”

On April 19, student entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses to a panel of judges for a chance to win $20,000 in cash prizes as the John S. and Marlene J. Brinzo Center for Entrepreneurship hosts the annual Spring Pitch competition.

While we look ahead to all that is to come this month, we also reflect on the profound loss of distinguished professor and esteemed colleague Robert D. Hisrich, Ph.D., who passed away in February. Dr. Hisrich served as the College’s Bridgestone Chair of International Marketing and Director of the Global Management Center and International Programs. His impact will be felt for years to come through his gift to name a space in Crawford Hall, as well as a scholarship that has been established in his name to help future students. I invite you to read more about his contributions to entrepreneurship and education below.
