Kent State College of Business Administration Alumna Launches Successful Skincare Business

Kent State College of Business Administration alumna and entrepreneur Mandi Michalson launched her business, Impäkt Organic Skincare, in 2014. Since then, she has built a strong and dedicated team comprised of managers, attorneys, production team members and finance professionals.

Suffering from sensitive skin herself, Michalson found that mainstream skincare products did more harm than good. She began conducting her own research and developing her own products, laying the framework for her company, Impäkt Organic Skincare. According to the company’s website, Impäkt Organic Skincare produces eco-friendly, sustainable, truly natural and organic products with no fillers. Products include cleansers, lip treatments and facial masks.

Michalson, a U.S. Army veteran, earned Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from Kent State University. She attended the Female Entrepreneurship Summit (FES), an event sponsored by the College of Business Administration, as both a student and an entrepreneur.

“I would not be the same person or made the progress that I have with Impäkt Organic without my experiences at Kent State University and the helpful information I learned from FES speakers and panels,” said Michalson. “These experiences have all worked together to produce world-class products.”

“It takes a talented person to conduct their own research and develop their own products when they find that the market is not producing suitable options,” said Shawn Rohlin, associate professor of economics and director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation. “Mandi exemplifies the entrepreneurial ingenuity that we strive to instill in our students.”
