Message from the Dean

As the Fall semester started, President Beverly Warren has endorsed a bold vision for the University's future. Her priorities include putting students first, advancing Kent State as nationally distinctive and distinguished, remaining globally competitive, boosting our regional impact and ensuring excellence in University stewardship.

In support of President Warren's vision, the college strives to provide students with an engaged learning environment that allows them to be globally competitive. Our goal is to graduate informed citizens and successful leaders. We believe through the college's continued national recognition that we are on the right path; as demonstrated recently with the college's endorsement by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Kent State's accounting program is now one of only 23 programs to meet the high standards required by the IMA.

We also take pride in the college's efforts to foster entrepreneurial activity and economic development through our Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation (CEBI). On November 5th, CEBI's Michael D. Solomon Speaker Series will welcome alumnus Keith Levy as the keynote speaker. Mr. Levy's success as president of Royal Canin and former vice president and chief marketing officer of Anheuser-Busch, Inc. will be of interest to both students and the general public.

Finally, we take seriously the responsibility for ensuring the future advancement and vitality of the college through strategic initiatives on the advice of the college's National Advisory Board; which this fall welcomes new leadership with Board Chair Tim Eippert and Vice Chair Lou Schneeberger, as well as three new members.

I am excited to see President Warren's vision take shape, along with the continued growth and success of the college.

Sincerely,

Deborah F. Spake

Dean
