About the Presenters: Kristin Williams and Michelle Adkins
Kristin Williams, executive director of Career Exploration and Development, leads the charge for the integration of the career development process into the culture of the University, including the creation of career communities and the scaling of the career ecosystem. She focuses her work on career education, employer relations, career community development, student employment as a high impact practice, and career events. With a collaborative approach to her work, she has been a part of the University-wide efforts to secure private funding and corporate partnerships to yield more than $1M in funding to support career programming and our students’ participation in internships, co-operative education, and more.
Michelle Adkins joined the Career Exploration & Development (CED) team in May 2019 and in August 2020 assumed a split position as Associate Director, Career Services with Kent State College of Business Administration and CED. Michelle provides leadership to students pursuing a career in the business industry as well as those seeking opportunities in health sciences. Michelle also provides leadership to Career Exploration and Development’s Flashternship program and has worked with the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement to recruit alumni as possible Flashternship hosts.

About the Presenter
Julie Paskiet is a senior career advisor in Career Exploration and Development. Julie has been at Kent State for the past four years and specializes in working with the education, government and social services career community. Julie also leads the diversity and inclusion initiatives for the department and particularly enjoys providing specialized outreach to the LGBTQ+ Community. She received her master’s degree in college counseling from Slippery Rock University in 2016 and bachelors degree in elementary education from Thiel College in 2012.

The Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University, home to the award-winning Traveling Stanzas project, is one of the premier university poetry centers in the country. It is a national leader for the range, quality and innovative outreach in the community.
The mission of Traveling Stanzas is to bring poetry to everyday lives by fostering meaningful conversations and encouraging new voices. The program offers people moments of pause to slow down and reflect on their lives, their communities, and to participate in a shared creative experience
Currently, Traveling Stanzas is offering a multitude of ways to engage with their interactive poetry, either through reading or submitting your own stanzas.

From Feb. 12 - 18, 2021, Brewnuts will donate 15% of proceeds from two unique Kent State-inspired donuts to the Kent State Emergency Grant Fund. If you can't make it to Cleveland that week but want to support our students, you can do so here.

The Kent State University Museum is home of extraordinary collections of historic dress, fashion, textiles and decorative arts. Here you will find works by many of the world’s great artists and designers, known and unknown, from across time and continents.
The museum was founded in 1982 alongside the Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising and offers invaluable, first-hand experiences for students, faculty and staff at Kent State University. The museum also serves the culturally rich communities of Northeastern Ohio as well as global audiences through the loan of objects to museums, scholarly research and traveling exhibitions from the distinguished collection.
While you may not be able to visit the museum in person at this time, it can come to you through their comprehensive YouTube channel. Though this channel, you can deep dive into the museum's vault with Director, Sarah Rogers, to view many fun and interesting videos, including one about the Culture/Counter Culture exhibit with Curator, Sarah Hume.
