Welcome New Faculty

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry welcomes three new faculty members this Fall.

Professor Barry Dunietz is a new Assistant Professor in Physical Chemistry. Professor Dunietz earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Columbia University and worked as a postdoctoral scholar with Martin Head-Gordon at the University of California at Berkeley. His research interests lie in the area of quantum chemistry and electronic structure modeling - particularly as applied to materials and systems that may be useful for energy conversion.

Professor Sujeewani (Sue) Ekanayake joins us full time this year after teaching part-time for the Department in Spring 2012. Professor Ekanayake earned her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Akron. In addition to teaching a range of freshman-level courses, she is continuing her research in inorganic chemistry in collaboration with Professor Songping Huang.

Professor Mark Even joins us from West Liberty University in West Virginia. Professor Even earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He has also held teaching positions at Illinois State University, Eureka College, and Eastern Oregon University. Professor Even is teaching courses in General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry this year.
