Do employees have to use vacation or sick time for university-sponsored events (i.e. university-sponsored health screenings, office support staff luncheon, benefits fair, etc.)? (06/16/2014)
Any employee wishing to attend a university-sponsored event need only seek permission from their supervisor to leave their work site. Supervisors, as is the case for any leave request, will make their own decision on granting the leave based upon their need to operate effectively and efficiently. It is not necessary for employees to use their vacation or sick time for these types of events.
