Welcome to Kent State Youth Winds

As a member of the Kent State Youth Winds (KSYW), you will:

• Participate in weekly rehearsals filled with inspiring music
• Collaborate with fellow dedicated musicians
• Receive guidance from Kent State faculty committed to your growth

About the Experience

Our goal is to both challenge and support your development as a musician. During your time in KSYW, you will:

• Engage in the creative process of music-making in an honor ensemble
• Work with outstanding peers and faculty
• Grow musically in a fun, rewarding and enriching environment

Your full participation is essential. Please mark your calendars for Monday evening rehearsals throughout the academic year and coordinate with your teachers and family accordingly.

First Rehearsal

Date: Monday, Aug. 31, 2026
Time: 7–9:15 p.m.
Location: Band Educational Facility (BEF), Kent State University main campus

The BEF is located next to the Ice Arena and shares the parking lot.

Important Dates: 2026–27 Season

• Sunday, Nov. 15, 3 p.m.:
  Fall Concert, shared with the KSU Youth Orchestra
• Saturday, Nov. 21, time TBA:
  Rehearsal Lab
• Sunday, Nov. 22 (optional):
  Brass, saxophone, flute, clarinet and double reed day
  Free event for KSU Youth Winds students
  10 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Friday–Saturday, Jan. 15–16 (optional):
  Kent State All-Star Band
  Free honor band experience open to KSYW members
• Sunday, Feb. 21, 3 p.m.:
  Winter Concert
• Sunday, April 25, 3 p.m.:
  Spring Concert, shared with the KSU Wind Ensemble
• May 15-16
  Spring Trip
