Pianist Omar Roy (M.M. ‘15) joins the University of South Carolina Faculty

This fall, Kent State alumnus Omar Roy, D.M.A., joined the University of South Carolina as assistant professor of piano and piano pedagogy. There, he teaches applied piano and coordinates group piano classes. Previously, he served on the faculties of the University of Alabama and Oklahoma City University. 

After completing his master’s degree at Kent State with Jerry Wong, Roy went on to pursue doctoral studies at the University of Oklahoma with Jeongwon Ham, Edward Gates, Jane Magrath and Barbara Fast. His research interests and available workshops span the teaching Indian Classical Music to efficient practice to teaching students with ADHD and more.
