Kent State University graduate student, Erin Burke and her research mentor, Dr. John Gunstad, recently published a paper in Surgery for Obesity and Related Disease showing rapid improvement in cognitive function follows bariatric surgery. Specifically, memory and other cognitive abilities improved just 1 month post-operatively. This research adds to our understanding of the link between obesity and Alzheimer's disease.
