Oscar Ritchie Hall

Named in honor of former Professor of Sociology and the first African American to serve on the faculty of any predominantly white university in Ohio, Oscar Ritchie Hall houses the Department of Africana Studies, African Community Theatre, Uumbaji Art Gallery, Institute for African American Affairs (IAAA), and Center for Pan-African Culture (CPAC). With lecture halls, classrooms and comfortable student lounges and meeting spaces, Oscar Ritchie Hall is an important meeting place and a cultural hub for African-Americans and other students at Kent State.
