United States Senator Jon Husted visited Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) in September as part of a trip highlighting Cleveland's role as a leading hub for health care, education and medical innovation.

During his visit to the KSUCPM Campus in Independence, Senator Husted toured the facilities and learned more about the College's role in preparing the next generation of health care professionals. He was guided by KSUCPM third- and second-year students, who shared their experiences and perspectives on podiatric medical education.

The visit was part of a broader day in Cleveland focused on the region's growing medical and innovation ecosystem. Preceding his time at KSUCPM, Husted joined Cleveland Clinic leadership to celebrate the opening of two new state-of-the-art research buildings in the Cleveland Innovation District.

“Cleveland is leading the way in preparing the next generation of health care professionals and advancing the medical breakthroughs that will improve lives here in Ohio and around the world,” Husted said.

His visit highlighted the important role KSUCPM plays within the medical mecca of Northeast Ohio. As the nation's only fully public college of podiatric medicine, KSUCPM continues to educate future physicians while contributing to Cleveland's reputation as a destination for health care, research and innovation.
