Biography

Hometown - Toms River, New Jersey

Undergraduate Institution - DeSales University

Class of 2024

Why did you pursue podiatric medicine?

Track athlete in high school and college

Why did you choose Kent State?

Cultural diversity, Serbian community, close to home, Safe area to live, Kent’s Anatomy cadaver lab

Favorite aspect of Kent State now that you are a student here?

The community of all the students and their support. Daily tutoring sessions and weekend lab sessions. Everyone is helping one another.

What advice do you have for anyone considering podiatry school?

Shadow in all areas of field of podiatry, Wound care, Biomechanics, Sports Medicine, Cosmetics. See how rewarding it is for the geriatric population values their podiatrists.

Have you begun to prepare Boards yet?  If so, what are you doing in terms of preparation? Any advice?

I have compiled a word document of all high yield topics that have been challenging. Constantly reviewing the section helps recall and will prep for exams.

How do you strike a balance between class work, studying, and social activities?

Routine Routine Routine. Sticking to a schedule everyday, finding your place to study whether its that same desk in library or in room. By building a timed schedule it keeps you on top of what to do. The fitworks that we students get free gym membership is open 24hours gives us the flexilibty to take our stress out.

Any suggestions for prospective students on building/ maintaining a balance?

Ask yourself what is your Why? When you value your Why then your motive will be gravitated to that and focus.

What one word describes you best?

Adrenaline-junkie

What are some activities you are involved in at KSUCPM?

At the moment our clubs are slowly being introduced but my interest is definitely into the soccer and basketball here at school. But outside of school, I have a journal where I visit all the metroparks and document my trail experience there.

As a first-year student, what are some of the challenges you faced (if any) while transitioning into medical school?

Online learning and meeting my classmates.

What one word describes KSUCPM?

Sympathy- Kent understands we are going through an epidemic and unlike other schools Kent not only has given us a financial relief, but they are following CDC guidelines and still implementing in class and anatomy lab.

What advice would you offer to any prospective students wishing to attend KSUCPM who are in the current application process?

Have yourself ready for online learning. Be familiar what works for you in studying. Find out different ways to actively recall information. Know which apps you will be using one note, notability ect.

Most challenging course and why?

Gross Anatomy Lab- I have never had cadaver lab in college. So it was exciting yet crazy to actually hold a scalpel blade and make your “first cut”. As weeks go on you will find yourself comfortable with your instruments and dissecting.
