Update to Faculty Contract Dates: Academic Year 2023-2024

Dear faculty, chairs, directors, and deans,
As you likely know, the academic calendar has been revised starting with AY 23/24 to ensure that Fall semester classes begin on a Monday, Spring semester classes extend through Friday of week 15, and the four week break between Fall and Spring semesters is maintained. To preserve the current length of AY contracts for 9-month faculty, AAUP-KSU and the University have agreed that the faculty contract will begin on the Thursday prior to the Monday start of Fall semester classes and continue through the Wednesday following Spring semester finals week.
In AY 23/24, 9-month faculty contracts will:
- begin Thursday, August 17, 2023 and
- end Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Please note that there will be only two workdays in which pre-Fall semester meetings with 9 month faculty can occur. Regional Campus meetings will occur on Thursday August 17th between noon – 5:00 p.m. Kent Campus administrators will coordinate in scheduling their meetings so that Regional Campus faculty can attend any academic unit-wide as well as any campus-wide meetings. As a reminder, convocation on the Kent Campus is Friday August 18th at 10:30 a.m.
