Scholarships for All College of Business Administration Students

Annually, all COBA scholarships are due February 1. Also view our major-specific scholarshipsincoming student scholarships, and education abroad scholarships.

You only need to fill out the application once to apply for most COBA scholarships listed below. Some scholarships require a separate application.

Albert Miles Memorial Scholarship

For this scholarship, you must be a declared business major with a sophomore or junior class standing (30 to 89 credit hours). You also must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

Alumni Student Endowed Award

Two awards will be given to one senior and one junior who demonstrate leadership and service.To qualify you must officially be declared a business major, have a senior (minimum of 90 credit hours) or junior (60 to 89 hours) class standing and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Arden L. Allyn Cup

Each year an engraved cup is presented to a graduating senior in honor of Arden L. Allyn. In order to qualify for this award, you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and exhibit leadership in student organizations and other community activities.

Carol and Lellan McFarland Scholarship Endowment Fund

If you have financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.0, you may qualify for this scholarship fund. You may also be able to receive this scholarship beyond one academic year as long as you maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Charles J. Pilliod Endowed Scholarship

Do you have a demonstrated interest in international business? If so, this may be the scholarship for you. You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be of a sophomore class standing or higher. Additionally, you must hold a leadership role in a student organization and have relevant work experience. Funds may be used for tuition, room and board, fees, travel expenses and books and supplies.

Crishal Family Endowed Scholarship

This tuition- only, renewable scholarship is preferred for a female undergraduate student. To receive this scholarship, you must be serious-minded, focused, goal-oriented and have a desire to become successful in your chosen business profession; minimum GPA of 2.8 required.

David R. Fitzsimmons Family Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must a full-time student with at least a sophomore class standing and a minimum 2.0 GPA. You also must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the College of Business Administration and demonstrate financial need.

Delta Sigma Pi Key

We, the College of Business Administration, choose the recipient of this scholarship key, presented by Delta Sigma Pi, a professional fraternity in commerce and business administration. In order to receive this key, you must be a graduating senior with the highest academic average.

Donna & Roger Derr Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is for undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership on campus and within the community. The recipient will be chosen based on previous academic performance, financial need and conclusions drawn from review of your application.

Elaine Wylie and Marvin G. Haught Scholarship

To be eligible, you must be a declared College of Business Administration major and have a minimum of 30 credit hours completed by the beginning of the fall semester and a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

Frank J. Kelly Scholarship

For this scholarship, you must have at least 30 credit hours completed before the start of the fall semester and at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Dr. George Stevens Emergency Scholarship

This scholarship is available to you as emergency monetary assistance as you pursue your undergraduate degree in the College of Business Administration. Awards are based on detailed information obtained from your scholarship application. You may submit an application at any time throughout the year.

Gross Family Scholarship

This scholarship is available to business and education majors. To be eligible, you must have a minimum 30 credit hours completed prior to the beginning of fall semester and a minimum 2.25 overall GPA.

The International Material Marketing Society - L. Harris Memorial Scholarship

For this scholarship, you must be a College of Business Administration major and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have completed at least 30 credit hours.

James J. Unger Business Scholarship

If you are an undergraduate student of junior or senior status who is not eligible for academic merit awards and also not eligible for state or federal grant money, then this scholarship might be the right fit for you. In order to be eligible, you must have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA and a minimum 2.5 major GPA. This award can be renewed for your senior year if you meet the criteria. There is a preference if you maintain full or part time employment, especially during summers, to contribute toward your education costs. You must complete a FAFSA for consideration for this award.

JB Memorial Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a College of Business Administration major have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours and have a minimum 3.00 overall GPA. You also must demonstrate leadership and service to Kent State and the surrounding community.

John W. Troxell College of Business Administration Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a First Generation College of Business Administration major that has financial need determined by the FAFSA. Successful recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Scholarship funds may be applied to tuition, room and board, fees and books and supplies.

Joseph and Judith Tirpak Scholarship

For this award, you must be a College of Business Administration major have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the start of the fall semester. You also must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and financial need. Preference will be given if you are a resident of Lake County.

Kent Alumni Reach for Excellence Scholarship (KARE)

In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must demonstrate leadership skills and outstanding service both on campus and in the Kent community. Additionally, you must be a College of Business Administration major have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and have completed 60 credit hours by the start of the fall semester.

Michael J. Maykut College of Business Administration Scholarship

Scholarship recipient must be a College of Business Administration major and must demonstrate financial need through the completion of the FAFSA. This award is renewable through the recipient's senior year of study and must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA

Milan W. Powers Endowed Scholarship

You must be a College of Business Administration major, have financial need, a minimum 3.0 GPA, completed at least 30 credit hours by the start of the fall semester and demonstrate leadership on campus and the community in order to qualify for this scholarship. Preference will be given if you graduated from Field High School in Brimfield, OH.

Raymond W. Evans Scholarship

Scholarship recipient must be a College of Business Administration major and must demonstrate financial need. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated campus and community leadership.

Rolland and Marilyn Walk Scholarship

You must be a college of business major with Sophomore, Junior or Senior status to apply for this renewable (up to three years) scholarship. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, room and board and books.
 

The Stevens Family Scholarship

You must be a College of Business Administration major in your Junior or Senior year who shows great potential in your major by having a minimum 3.0 GPA and have financial need. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, room and board and books.

WM McKean and Mary Ann Williams Business Scholarship

Recipients shall be selected on the basis of being enrolled in the College of Business Administration as a junior or senior.  The recipients must also be from the greater Akron area with students from Akron being given first consideration.  This award is renewable for junior recipients to use for their senior year.
