Graduation/Commencement

If you are approaching graduation, you must meet with an academic advisor to ensure you are on track for your intended graduation date. Here are some steps to consider: 

1. Schedule an academic advising appointment with an advisor through the KSU Advising appointment scheduler.  If you experience issues when scheduling an appointment, please call 330-672-2872. 
2. When meeting with an academic advisor, discuss your remaining requirements and your intended graduation term.
3. Apply for graduation according to the posted deadlines.

To apply for graduation log into Flashline and navigation to: 

Student > Resources > Graduation > Apply for Graduation.

To view graduation application deadlines click on the “Graduation Application Deadlines” link in Flashline or view the dates on the University Registrar page. 

You can apply for graduation after the deadline by completing the Late and Reapplication for Graduation Form located in Flashline. While in Flashline, navigate to:

Student > Resources > Graduation > Late and Reapplication for Graduation Form.

Once you have completed the form, email the completed form to your academic advisor, or the advising office at advisingbus@kent.edu, to be added to the graduation list.

You can verify if you applied for graduation in two ways:

• In your GPS Audit: Login to Flashline -> Student -> Resources -> Advising and GPS -> GPS Audit & Plan. The top block with your student ID and name, will have a section titled Graduation Application Submitted for: Term. Verify that the correct term is listed in this space. If you do not see this wording, then you have not properly applied for graduation. 
• In Flashline: Login to Flashline and navigate to the following screen Student -> Resources -> Graduation -> View Submitted Graduation Applications. *NOTE: if you completed a paper or PDF version of the graduation late/reapplication form, your graduation application will NOT show in your Flashline, it will only show in your GPS Audit.

Each semester, University Events communicates Kent campus commencement ceremony detail and instructions to students on the graduation list. Visit the commencement website to learn more. Note that this website is updated a few weeks into the semester and important details are communicated to the graduate via their Kent State email address.  If you do not receive information regarding RSVP’ing for commencement, contact University Events directly using the contact information located on the bottom of the commencement website (see link to site above).

Typically, a Grad Fair is held each term by the University Bookstore located on the Kent campus where students are able to purchase their cap and gown. Visit the Commencement website for more information.
