Welcome back!
This week I want to introduce you to our two awesome admissions counselors, Mary Lynn Delfino and Bethany Begeot. Mary Lynn and Bethany are the first people you will contact when you make your decision to attend Kent State Geauga and Twinsburg Academic Center. They play a critical part in your admission and getting you familiar with the campus, so it may be helpful to know a little bit about each of them.
Though I would have liked to conduct these interviews in person, I still enjoyed being able to learn more about why Mary Lynn and Bethany love to be admissions counselors, as well as some information about themselves.
Below is Alexis Harris's conversation with Admissions Counselor Mary Lynn Delfino.
Q. Can you introduce yourself?
A. My name is Mary Lynn Delfino. I've been working with Kent State students for ten years now, first as a student org advisor at the Kent Campus and now as an admissions counselor at Kent State Geauga and the Twinsburg Academic Center for the last two years. When we are on campus, I am based out of the Twinsburg Academic Center.
Q. What are some interesting facts about yourself?
A. I don't have a middle name; Mary Lynn is my first name. While we don't get to choose to whom we are born or where we are born, a fun fact about me is that I was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which of course, is home to NBC's The Office. Although I studied communications in college and theology in graduate school, I have, in the last few years become highly interested in butterflies and nature in general, which led to me start volunteering in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park as a butterfly monitor.
Q. What you love about being an admissions counselor?
A. I love helping students feel like they have a personal guide through the admissions process, striving to give them solid information they can use to learn about new possibilities and to help them make the best decision possible. It's a joy to work with students from the first time they contact me until the moment they schedule classes at orientation.
Q. What is something you think potential students should know about applying to/attending KSUGTAC.
Regional campuses are a hidden gem! Our small size is our strength. I think students are often surprised to see how much we offer in terms of academic programs—and for a fraction of the cost of other four-year public institutions in Ohio. You can start with us, finish with us, or even pick up where you left off with us. We pride ourselves on being an intergenerational campus, with students from 7th grade on up to adult learners.
Bethany can most often be located at our Geauga Campus in Burton. This is what she had to tell us about herself!

Q. Can you introduce yourself?
A. Bethany Begeot: Lifelong Northeast Ohio resident and Kent State University Alumni 2013 – Bachelor's of Science in Education
Q. What are some interesting facts about yourself?
A. I spent ten years working in the Summer Camp and Retreat Center industry, ask me about my favorite camp songs! My favorite sport is basketball, GO CAVS! I also LOVE coffee and could easily drink several cups a day!
Q. What you love about being an admissions counselor?
A. I love talking to students about their goals and how they can turn what they are passionate about into a career! I was also a Regional Campus student when I attended Kent State and enjoyed my experience. It is nice to connect with students in that common experience.
Q. What is something you think potential students should know about applying to/attending KSUGTAC.
A. We have a wonderful and supportive community that students have the opportunity to thrive in! From small class sizes to tutoring and support services, this is a great place to be to grow in your educational endeavors!
