Newly Admitted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to Kent State University at Geauga and the Regional Academic Center!

The opportunities before you are endless.  We look forward to helping you reach your academic, professional, and personal goals.  Following the steps below will ensure that our staff will be able to best assist you in your entry to the University.

  • Complete the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://fafsa.ed.gov if you want to be eligible for federal financial assistance (grants, loans, and/or work study).

  • Log in and explore Kent State's Student Portal, FlashLine.  Your username, student ID, and directions for first time login can be found on your admission letter.

  • Complete your required placement assessments.  Transfer students who are unsure of what placement assessments may be required are encouraged to speak with an advisor by calling 440-834-4187 (Burton) or 330-888-6400 (Twinsburg).

  • Participate in EMPOWER (New Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration).  We know that college presents many exciting opportunities and new experiences.  This program is designed to provide you with the tools and information that will put you on the road to success.  Students who do not have current placement assessment scores on file by the time of their attendance at EMPOWER will be unable to register for a full schedule of classes.

    • New Freshman-You will be assigned to an EMPOWER date based on when you have been admitted and your desired location.  We will send this information via US postal mail and your Kent State email.  EMPOWER programs for Summer and Fall admitted students will begin in May and run through early August.  For those admitted in the Spring, the program will be held in November.  You will schedule for your first semester classes at EMPOWER
    • Transfer Students-We have created online EMPOWER modules designed to provide you with the tools and information needed for your successful transition to Kent State.  Information regarding the online modules will be sent via US postal mail and your Kent State email.  After you successfully complete the online orientation modules, you will be permitted to schedule an one-on-one advising appointment to register for classes.

Please feel free to call either campus location (Burton:  440-834-4187 or Twinsburg:  330-888-6400) or email us (GeaugaAdmissions@kent.edu) with your questions!
