Leaders of Tomorrow Summit Goes Virtual

The Leaders of Tomorrow Summit, typically held each spring at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, has transitioned to a virtual format for 2021.

Leaders of Tomorrow, under the umbrella of Leadership Tuscarawas, is designed to bring together young people in their junior and senior years of high school or in college to help them become successful leaders in life, work, and play. Since 2014, area leaders have helped share their passion with our community’s young people through presentations, workshops, and networking. Whether it is a tip, a life lesson, or something they wish they had known when they were the students’ age, each presenter has an important message. The annual Summit is inspiring, hopeful, and gives a glimpse of the lives of some amazing professionals who are making a difference in the world around them.

Speakers for the 2021 Virtual Summit are: Natalie Bollon, Director of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties; Sarah Dugger, a local textile designer, fine artist and muralist; Tiffany Foxx, CEO of the Tuscarawas County YMCA; and Rocky Shanower, co-owner & founder of Park Street Pizza and mobile wood-fired pizza concept named Bahler Street. Orvis Campbell, Tuscarawas County’s Sheriff is serving as the host for this year’s Summit.

The annual summit is organized by a committee of community volunteers. The 2021 Summit Committee includes: Sarah Andreas, Gail Houglan, Diane Lautenschleger, Andrea Miley, David Mitchell, Teai Warner and Nicole Willey.

"The Leaders of Tomorrow Summit Committee is excited to share the 2021 virtual summit with students,” says committee member Diane Lautenschleger. “Featuring five engaging and empowering speakers, we are confident students will respond well to this format and be positively impacted through these powerful video messages. An added bonus of the virtual format is that the presentations will remain on the LOTS YouTube channel, inspiring students for years to come!"

Participating students will be eligible for a scholarship drawing. Leaders of Tomorrow will be awarding eight $250 scholarships to be used at the school of the student's choice. Kent State will be awarding eight $500 scholarships to be used at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

The 2021 Summit is offered free to local students and is made possible annually through generous contributions from the following sponsors: The Commercial & Savings Bank, First Federal Community Bank, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kent State University at Tuscarawas, Business and Community Services at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, Kimble, The Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, ProVia, Belden Brick Co.
