Toast to Education Award Presented to Jim Demuth

Kent State University at Tuscarawas recently honored Jim Demuth, of New Philadelphia, as the inaugural Toast to Education Award recipient for his tireless dedication to and support of education and our community.

Demuth is president of Tucson Inc. and proprietor of Gregory James Wines. He is a board member of the Tuscarawas County University Foundation, which supports the educational mission of Kent State Tuscarawas. Jim is following in the footsteps of his father, Richard Demuth, who was a charter member of the board established in 1968 and served for 40 years.

Specifically, Demuth was instrumental in the establishment of a walking and biking trail encompassing the campus property. The trail is dedicated to his father’s long-time commitment to our students and campus. This spring, he helped organize and sponsor the first Toast to Education Gala event to support Kent State Tuscarawas students and the educational outreach of the Performing Arts Center.

Demuth has also been actively involved in fundraising for the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Giving Kids Hope event and scholarships for the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Tuscarawas County.

The Toast to Education Gala, hosted at the Performing Arts Center, is a wine and culinary experience celebrating the passion for education. The elegant event supports scholarships, student opportunities and youth educational experiences enriching the vitality of our community. Next year’s gala is planned for March 23, 2024!  For more information about the Toast to Education Gala or supporting Kent State Tuscarawas, contact Chad Conrad at cconra1@kent.edu or 330.308.7445.
