First Step Participants Already One Step Ahead
While most high school seniors are thinking about prom, final exams and graduation parties, some are preparing for their academic future by attending Kent State University at Stark’s First Step program. Though they still have a month of high school to complete, Michaela Morris, Shelby Secrest, Anna Genovese and Devin Giovannelli are officially Kent State Stark freshmen, having already completed the advising and registration program.
Giovannelli, a senior at Jackson High School, will enter Kent State Stark’s nursing program this fall. She says First Step was very informative and is looking forward to experiencing all that the Stark Campus has to offer. A senior at Hoover High School, Morris was thrilled to receive her schedule and FLASHcard, Kent State’s student identification card. She wants other high school students who have not yet selected a college to know that she chose Kent State Stark because it is a wonderful school with affordable tuition. Secrest and Genovese both attend Jackson High School. They chose Kent State’s largest regional campus for its convenient location.
First Step is required for all incoming Kent State Stark freshmen who are age 20 and younger. Students receive an invitation to First Step shortly after being admitted. Before attending the program, students must complete any required placement assessments marked on their invitation.
