Go Global with Kent State Stark on Saturday, June 11

Kent State University at Stark presents Global Gateway Day, a family-friendly afternoon filled with cultural performances, international food sampling, global games and activities for all ages. The event will take place on Saturday, June 11 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Campus Center at Kent State Stark, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

“A key global initiative of Kent State Stark is to expand opportunities for students and the local community to engage in global citizenship and participate in cultural events through our campus,” said Assistant Dean Dr. A. Bathi Kasturiarachi. “The Global Gateway Day will bring together our campus community and the surrounding Stark County area on our campus to celebrate diversity and internationalism.”

Activities will include:

  • International Food Sampling: Among the more than ten regions to offer authentic food samples are Mediterranean, European, South American, Indian, Asian and African.
  • Live Cultural Performances: Attendees can experience performances by a Ukrainian singer/songwriter, a Chinese traditional vocalist, Nepalese dancers and an African drum and dance tribe.
  • Games and Activities: Families can participate in an Origami station, make-your-own rain stick, view the study abroad photo gallery and enjoy the World Landmark photobooth.
