Flash Dash and Doggie Fest Returns to KSU Tuscarawas

Are you ready to strut your mutt for the 5K for K9s and you?

Kent State Tuscarawas Alumni Association & Geib Funeral Home and Crematory are partnering for the Flash Dash 5K-9 run & .5-mile fun run/walk at the Tuscarawas campus, 330 University Dr. NE, New Philadelphia on Saturday, September 10!  Participants can compete in the traditional timed run or walk individually or bring your well-behaved Dog to join you in the contests.  Registration begins at 9 a.m. and race time is 10 a.m.

Two division options for the 5K run/walk include a runner only division and a runner + dog division.  The .5-mile fun run/walk is open for all including your K9.  All dogs must be leashed, vaccinated and tagged.

Pre-5K registration fee is $20, and $15 for students and alumni members. 5K entry fee the day of the race is $25. Preregistration deadline is September 6.  The .5-mile fun run/walk registration is $15.  All pre-registered participants will receive a free T-shirt.

Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners overall and to the top two finishers in each male and female age group.  First and second places awarded to the fastest dogs and their runners.

Eventgoers and pets do not have to compete.  The dog-friendly event also includes a “Doggie Fest” for the whole family featuring food, Furry Paw Art, K9 Judging Contest, Puppy Photo Booth, and other tail-wagging activities followed by event awards.  Proceeds support Kent State Tuscarawas Vet Tech scholarships.

“Dogs are family these days,” says Chad Conrad, director of philanthropy.  “We want to bring together the love of pets and Kent State Tuscarawas for a “dog-gone” day of fun and Golden Eagles pride to help make the future brighter for our students.”
