HIland Runner Signs to Cross Country and Track & Field Teams

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a Hiland High School graduating senior to their cross country and track & field teams. On May 4, Melissa Hostetler signed a Letter of Intent to run for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Cross Country and Track & Field Teams.

Hostetler was a four-year letter winner for the Hawks track & field team and a three-year letter winner for the cross country team. She received the track & field Most Points Award during her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons and the Miss Cross Country award during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was named to the All-County Cross Country Second Team her junior year.  Hostetler was also an important member of Hiland’s 2016-17 state championship basketball team and received the Coaches Award for dedication and hard work during her senior year.

“We are very fortunate and happy to have Melissa sign to come run for us,” said Mark Albaugh, Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “She is the consummate student athlete and excels in everything she does. Her dedication to team and school are second to none and although she has had lots of success, I know that she still has her best efforts ahead of her. I fully expect her to have an immediate impact on our team and she will raise all the boats around her with her commitment to work hard and lasting success.”

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
