Zachery Pfouts’s journey to the job of his dreams looked more like a mountain trail than a straight path. Along the way, Pfouts found Kent State University at Tuscarawas. The campus’s distinctive Science and Engineering Technology Program turned out to be the key to his success.
Say hello to Alexis Watson, a true trailblazer with big dreams and an even bigger drive.
Walking into classes where some heads turn to check if she’s lost, Watson doesn’t flinch. Instead, she rebuffs doubters and naysayers.
“Just because I’m a female doesn’t mean I’m incompetent,” said Watson, a mechanical engineering student in the College of Applied & Technical Studies (CATS). “It makes me feel very strong.”
To celebrate National Engineers Week, the Engineering Technology Department at Kent State University at Tuscarawas will host our annual Engineering Technology EXPO on Wed., Feb. 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The EXPO is an opportunity for companies to display their products, technology and manufacturing to students and the community.
The Animation Career Review’s 2024 Animation School Rankings report is out and for the second year in a row, the Kent State University College of Applied and Technical Studies Bachelor of Science degree in Animation Game Design (AGD) ranks among the top animation programs nationwide. The Kent, Stark and Tuscarawas campuses offer this innovative program.
Moving up one step from last year, the program now ranks 15th nationally among schools offering an animation-related Bachelor of Science degree and holds steady at the 20th spot in the Midwest.

That’s what led Ben Ward to spend countless hours last summer searching the Internet for just the right opportunity to help others. Driven to volunteer on an international level, his quest to serve resulted in cross-cultural connections with young people in Ukraine who have a desire to be proficient in the English language—a skill needed for many job opportunities.
