When thinking about the intersectionality between the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s and current civil rights issues, what characteristics might a millennial civil rights leader need in order to overcome adversity and successfully address current issues? How do those characteristics compare with the leadership traits that made Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. such an effective leader of the earlier Civil Rights Movement?
How would you re-envision (rewrite) Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous 1963 Letter from Birmingham Jail so that it approximates the spirit of Dr. King’s letter while addressing issues relevant to today? (Remember, your letter must adhere to the 750 - 1,000 word requirement.)
