Strategic Planning Timeline

Fall 2021 - Spring 2022

  • Launched strategic plan working group comprised of over 130 faculty, staff, and students who were broken into 8 subcommittees and 1 leadership team who were charged with the following:
    • Review of strategies and metrics from previous strategic plan Our Voices, Our Vision.
    • Identification of additional data needed to inform subcommittees into the revision and creation of new strategies and tactics.
    • Development of draft Goals, Objectives, Strategies, and Tactics (GOST) to meet the current needs of the Division of Academic Affairs.
    • Outreach to Kent State community including listening sessions, town halls, and presentations to Academic Leadership and the Faculty Senate.
    • Creation of a branded website for the new continuous strategic plan The Golden Road to Student Success.

Summer 2022

  • Held summer workshops with subcommittees to review The Golden Road to Student Success, including:
    • Review of core concepts and values for the plan.
    • Creation of a data and evaluation subcommittee to develop metrics and measure of success for the continuous plan.

Fall 2022 - Spring 2023

  • Shared progress with university community as well as presentations of initial strategies and tactics to various groups including Academic Leadership (deans, chairs and directors) and Faculty Senate Executive Committee
  • Leadership team reviewed draft GOST developed by subcommittees and edited based on feedback from subject matter experts.
  • Revision and finalization of GOST with subcommittee chairs in order to move on to implementation planning. 

Summer 2023

  • Held summer workshops to identify progress status and potential project ownership of tactics.
  • Development of implementation plan for a continuous strategic plan.
  • Met with project owners to assign tactics for Implementation Year One

Fall 2023

  • Launch The Golden Road to Success: Implementation Year One
  • Engage with academic units in conversations about developing strategic plan consistent with university-level initiatives
  • Prepare for Implementation Year Two
