Summer Financial Aid

Posted May 27, 2020: The refunding process has been delayed until June 1 (tentatively) due to Kent State's Pass/Fail request processing deadline for the Spring 2020 semester. The Pass/Fail request allows Kent State to accommodate the needs of our students as a result of COVID-19. These requests must all be reviewed and processed before Summer 2020 financial aid can be released to student accounts. Please continue to monitor your FlashLine account (Student > Finances > Tuition & Payment > My Student Account Detail) to verify when your financial aid has been applied and if a refund has been issued.

Please email if you have any questions or schedule an appointment with a financial aid representative.

Before applying for summer aid, be sure you understand:

  • Using grants, loans or work-study during the summer could reduce your fall and spring financial aid.

  • All enrolled students who are eligible for grants (Pell, TEACH, OCOG, PHEAA) will be awarded a semester of eligibility during the summer. Summer grants will be awarded based on your registered hours at the time your application is processed.

  • Students who indicate they would like to use a loan in summer will be awarded 1/3 of their annual loan eligibility for the summer term. The remaining 2/3 will be awarded during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Speak with a member of the financial aid staff to see how your future aid may be affected.
