Advisory Boards and Councils

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion works in tandem with advisory boards and councils directly associated with the work of the division. These groups are are consisted of alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends who advocate for the students of Kent State University. 

Additionally, these groups are composed of leaders acquainted with the needs of the community and committed to the values and mission of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The purpose of these boards are to promote the recognition, development and financial support of the students served by DEI centers, departments and offices. Lastly, members of DEI advisory boards and councils assist with identifying ways by which the division can best serve the educational needs of the students in addition to identifying sources of financial support.

The Kent State University Diversity Advisory Board will advise and recommend strategies for the advancement of diversity and inclusion, examine ways to highlight important findings and generate funds to aid students through graduation.

Hispanic Leadership Council

The Hispanic Leadership Council (HLC) is a diverse group of student leaders, faculty and staff with a special affinity to the Latinx/Hispanic identity. A forum where voices are heard, ideas are birthed, innovation happens, and strategies are planned to strengthen the presence and impact of individuals who contribute to the rich and diverse culture of the Kent State community, and whose perspectives are known to add incredible value.

The HLC partners with student and staff organizations as well as Centers, Departments, and Faculty members to provide opportunities for the Kent State Community to learn about and engage with the Latinx/Hispanic Culture. 

 

University Diversity Action Council

    The Role and Mission of the University Diversity Action Council (UDAC)

    1. Provide advice to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) on diversity matters.
    2. Serve as a leadership council for university-wide diversity related matters.
    3. Collect relevant data and communicate diversity progress from colleges, departments and divisions.
    4. Serve as an advocate to institutionalize the values of diversity, equity and inclusion at Kent State University.
    5. Propose new initiatives and actions for the university community that embed diversity, equity and inclusion.
