Drop-In Group Exercise Classes

  • Open to Kent State Stark faculty, staff and students; and Stark State College faculty, staff and students.
  • Drop in on the days the group exercise class is offered. No class is registration required, however, class space fills on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • No group exercise classes will be held when the university is closed due to weather emergencies, holidays or during spring break.

This class incorporates stretching, muscular endurance and cardiovascular activity to help survivors rehabilitate both mentally and physically from the effects of breast cancer. Special attention will be given to education about lymphedema, range of motion and strength issues associated with non/surgical cancer treatments. Participants of any fitness level are encouraged to attend, including those who may need to sit during classes. This class is limited to breast cancer survivors only.

Preregistration and a physician’s clearance is required.

Mondays: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

This 60-minute class will help you unwind from your day. This is an all-levels class and participants are encouraged to work at their own level. Mats and other props are provided.

30-Minute Strong is a half-hour, full-body strength class using different types of equipment - dumbbells, weighted bars, gliding disks, or kettlebells! You name it and we will use it to strengthen. A short warm-up and cool-down is included but remember to stretch after!

Wednesdays: 12:05 - 12:50 p.m.

This 50-minute class is designed for all activity levels. You will increase your heart rate and work on your cardiovascular fitness with approximately 20 minutes of step aerobics followed by 20 minutes of strength training exercises for the whole body. Dumbbells, resistance bands and other types of equipment will be used.

This is a 30-minute indoor cycle class is meant to get your heart rate up! Each class will start off with a gradual warm-up and end with cool-down and stretching. We will ride hills, work on speed and endurance, and develop some power. Bring a towel and a water bottle!

This is a 40-minute full-body strength class that alternates between strength training and cardio. 1–2-minute strength intervals will be followed by 2-4 minute cardio intervals. A short warm-up and cool-down are included but remember to stretch after!

This is a 50-minute indoor cycle and strength training class meant to get your heart rate up! Each class will start off with a cardio portion on the bike and end with a strength portion on the floor.
