Faculty Computer Policy

Kent State University at Geauga & Twinsburg Regional Academic Center Faculty Computer Policy

Fulltime tenure-track and full time non-tenure track faculty members are eligible to be issued a new computer upon their initial hire and each subsequent three year period thereafter. The policy of the Geauga Campus and Regional Academic Center functions similarly to the policy established at the Kent Campus. Each campus has its own policy regarding issuing computers and faculty refresh. The Geauga Campus and Regional Academic Center have several variances from the Kent Campus policy, such as the date calculated for faculty refresh is based upon the period of time that has passed from issue (three years for fulltime faculty), rather than annual cycles with groups of users. As each of our sites’ I.T. departments operate with both limited staffing and fiscal resources, an additional variance from the Kent Campus policy is that we issue/refresh only Microsoft Windows based computers.  This variance is a means to better support all of our customers within a homogeneous environment.

Currently, the two models that may be selected are nicely equipped Dell Computers, including the Dell Latitude 7480 notebook and Dell OptiPlex 7450 All-In-One desktop models.
