The mission of our department is to cultivate safe, inclusive communities that nourish student wellness and success. Our mission provides the foundation for the programs, services, and staffing we provide in the residence halls.
Nearly 90% of students’ time is spent outside the classroom and when they're living on-campus, much of that time is spent in the residence halls. The living environment and programs offered in the residence halls are designed to aid students in becoming more independent, clarify their personal values, contribute to their community, experience multiculturalism, challenge their ideas, understand their emotions, and navigate conflict in healthy ways.
Research shows that students who live on-campus do better academically, graduate sooner, and have more interaction with faculty and staff than students who do not; Kent State University is no exception.
