From the General Counsel’s Office: Get the Facts On Public Records

Kent State faculty and staff who work with public records, including student and employee documents, contracts and other related documents are invited to attend a seminar on Ohio public records

Kent State faculty and staff who work with public records, including student and employee documents, contracts and other related documents are invited to attend a seminar on Ohio public records. The one-hour seminar will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. in Franklin Hall.
   
Sponsored by the Office of the General Counsel, the seminar will be conducted by representatives from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and will include an overview of Ohio’s public records law, Ohio’s Sunshine Law and the basics of records retention.

Topics to be covered include the definition of a public record, what to do when you receive a public records request and information on how long a record must be kept.

Registration is required for the seminar and seating is limited. The RSVP deadline is Friday, Aug. 10. You can register here.
