University Statement Regarding Planned Second Amendment Rally

Kent State University has notified a recent graduate that she must cease and desist from advertising a planned rally on campus because she has not registered the event and obtained the approvals required by university policy.

The proposed Sept. 29 rally, which advertised multiple, non-university affiliated speakers, also does not meet the university policy which mandates that a registered student organization or university department must sponsor the event. A group planning a counterprotest received the same communication.

All event organizers must comply with the applicable university policies in order to hold a rally.
