Kent State to Host Female Entrepreneurship Community Classes

This spring, LaunchNET Kent State University is proud to host classes for first-time female entrepreneurs in collaboration with local nonprofit Bad Girl Ventures, to promote new business startups by ladies in Kent, Ohio, and surrounding communities.

Bad Girl Ventures will introduce its newest program, EXPLORE, in Kent. EXPLORE guides first-time entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners through the exploratory and ideation stage in order to validate a business idea. EXPLORE classes are taught by successful local business owners and professionals.

Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the Kent State University Library, starting March 8, 2016. Free parking is available. Registration and a class schedule is available at www.eventbrite.com/e/bgv-akronkent-spring-2016-explore-valid-for-9-classes-tickets-19815722359.  The deadline to register is March 4, 2016.

To learn more about the series, attend an upcoming information session where you can learn more and meet other Bad Girls:

In partnership with LaunchNET Kent State and University Libraries, Bad Girl Ventures will also be providing a number of scholarships for Kent State students, faculty, or alumni to the class series. Scholarships will be chosen by the LaunchNET staff.

Calling on local businesspeople, faculty and staff of the University to teach, mentor and coach, the classes will bring together the key information that new entrepreneurs need to get their venture off to a successful start. A kickoff celebration will be held on the fourth floor of the Kent State University Library on March 31, from 5-7p.m., to allow the Bad Girl Ventures students, mentors, coaches, and community to network.

“The LaunchNET office on the Kent campus works with KSU student entrepreneurs,” said Tabitha Martin, advisor for Venture Initiatives at LaunchNET Kent State. “It is exciting to be able to bring the Bad Girl Ventures’ curriculum to our clients as well as other community members, and for them to be able to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience right here in the Kent-Akron area.”

If you or someone you know is a first-time entrepreneur or exploring an idea for a new venture, this class series is made for you.
