History! Kent State Wins First Bowl Game 51-41

Kent State made history in Texas with a 51-41 win over Utah State in the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl.

The win caps a 7-6 season for the Golden Flashes, who won their last three games of the regular season to become bowl eligible.

Trailing 27-26 entering the fourth quarter, Quarterback Dustin Crum led the offense on four consecutive scoring drives to seal the win. Crum threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third on his way to being named game MVP.  He racked up 289 yards of passing and added 147 yards rushing.

Defensive Back Qwuantrezz Knight was named Defensive MVP after notching nine tackles (three solo) and 1.5 sacks.

Kicker Matthew Trickett added a team record five field goals to give Head Coach Sean Lewis a win in his second season at Kent State.

Turns out fourth time was the charm as the team's first three bowl appearances ended in defeat. The most recent was a loss in the GoDaddy.com bowl in the 2012 season.
