Tuition And Fees (2017 - 2018)

New Tuition Guarantee

for first-year degree-seeking undergraduate and eligible transfer students starting at Kent State during the 2018-19 academic year

Beginning with the fall 2018 academic year, Kent State will offer all eligible new first-year undergraduate and transfer students the certainty that the Ohio resident tuition rate (i.e. instructional and general fee) career services fee, as well as room and board plan charges will not increase for their applicable cohort rate.  Participation in the program is required for all new first-year degree-seeking undergraduate and eligible transfer students enrolling at Kent State for the first time in fall semester of 2018 or later.

Current Tuition Rates

for current undergraduate students and all graduate and international students

Current Kent State undergraduate students, as well as graduate and international students, are not eligible for the tuition guarantee program. They pay the published rates for each academic year.

Based on one academic year, two semesters for a full-time international student. Program and special course fees are additional.

Based on the Student Health Insurance premium for one year. The United States does not have universal health care. For this reason, the university requires all international students to purchase the sponsored student health insurance plan. Under certain criteria, a student may request a waiver of this charge.  Total is based on an estimated cost of the required books/supplies for each term.

All international students are required to pay the $20 per semester International Student Activity Fee.  The fee is assessed each semester to support the delivery of the various programs ISSS provides to its students.

¹ The general fee is mainly used to support student services and operations.  Examples include recreation services, athletics, student center, transportation services, and student organizations.  There's also a component that provides funding for facilities needs and for investment in off campus and distance learning.  Allocations of the general fee revenues are part of the University's annual budget building process.

² Lower Division includes 10000 and 20000 level courses. Students only taking regional campus lower division courses will not be assessed more than the respective 12-18 hour rate.

³ Upper Division includes 30000 and 40000 level courses. Students only taking regional campus lower and upper division courses will not be assessed more than the respective upper division 12-18 hour rate.

⁴ Students enrolled at both a Regional campus and the Kent campus for more than 18 credit hours will be assessed an additional $456 per credit hour for each credit hour enrolled above 18.

Note: There is an additional $142.00 per credit hour instructional fee for lower division and $98.00 per credit hour instructional fee for upper division fully online regional campuses courses. This fee excludes online courses associated exclusively with the Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Technical Studies, and Associate of Applied Business programs.
