Join Us Today at 3 p.m. to Stand in Solidarity With Our LGBTQ+ Community

Dear Kent State University Students, Faculty and Staff,

Kent State stands in solidarity with members of our LGBTQ+ community. The recent mass shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has left many of us angry, grief-stricken and sad. This recent shooting is part of a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ violence across the nation and around the world. We condemn this latest act of hate against the LGBTQ+ community.

To allow members of our community to process these recent events, Kent State invites students, faculty and staff to an event hosted by the Division of Student Affairs.

The event will take place in the LGBTQ+ Center on the lower level of the Kent Student Center at 3 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 21.

Student mental health support and resources are available on the Step Up and Speak Out website or by contacting Counseling and Psychological Services at 330-672-2487. Mental health services are available to faculty and staff through IMPACT Solutions, our employee assistance program, at 1-800-227-6007. For general well-being resources, visit the Kent State of Well-being resource page

Sincerely,

Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D.
Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D.
