New exhibition demonstrates technology’s impact on photography
Kent State University School of Art Galleries will present “Phone Photo Show,” curated by Kent State University Assistant Professor Gingr Vaughan, Oct. 3-27 in the Downtown Art Gallery. The gallery will host an opening reception on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., which is open and free to the public. The Downtown Art Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in downtown Kent. Free parking is available behind the gallery.
Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design will soon be getting a new home on the Kent State University Esplanade, a pedestrian walkway through campus that is currently being extended into downtown Kent, Ohio.

The Kent State University Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.

Kent State University will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from Kent State President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the Kent State Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to Kent State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Kent Student Center Kiva.
